It’s been a few years since I’ve bought from ASOS but I placed an order with them recently since they had a 20% code for Australia day and I absolutely loved one of the tee designs I saw! My plan this year was to stick with simple plain design items so they’re easy to mix and match but I guess that’s already fading away haha.

With the AUD dropping in value to the USD, I think ASOS is a good site to buy from since they constantly have sales and discount codes are readily available. They also usually have booths at Orientation events at universities at Sydney (I’ve seen them at USYD, UTS and UNSW) so drop by when you can coz they usually have freebies. Another option is to sign up to UNiDAYS, where you can always get 10% off full priced items and there’s load of other discounts available. I’m not sure whether it’s restricted to Australians only, all I remember is that you need a valid university email address.

I’m really happy with this order- the fit and quality isn’t too bad, especially considering the price. I got 3 items for $41.10 which I think is a bargain!

The items I got in this order were the:

This is the tee that led me to order from ASOS again! With my previous order everything was too big, even though I followed their size chart and I ended up disappointed, so this time I sized down. I think I’m usually a size AU6, I usually always buy tees in unisex sizes so I’m not too sure what I actually am haha. I actually ordered in this AU4 since they were sold out of size 6 and 8 so I thought I’ll just yolo and give it a try since it’s ment to be loose and boxy anyways. I was surprised to see that size 4 is still baggy on me, I thought it’ll be a bit tighter but I think it’s a pretty good fit for the way it’s meant to look. I think it also doesn’t look too cropped on me but then I have a short torso :3seal

I’m really pleased with the thickness of the tee as well, I tend to find that white tees are usually slightly sheer but this isn’t. Also it’s 100% cotton so it’s nice and comfy. Also really loving the graphic on the tee since I thought it’s cute and sweet :chuuu

The other tee I got is from a Swedish brand called Monki. It’s my first time hearing of them but browsing through their store it looks like they’ve got affordable basic and trendy items. It reminds me of American Apparel. I like the look and vibe of their outfits so I’ll be keeping an eye out on them :shinyred

I mainly just got this since I was looking for something cheap, simple yet interesting – and who can say no to unicorns? Their smallest size was XS (size 8), so it fits me loosely but not too baggy and I tucked it in the photo above of me wearing it. It’s more sheer and slightly thinner than ASOS tee I got and it’s made from 100% organic cotton. I think it’s a nice to wear tucked in or out.

And last up are these demin shorts! They’re made from a cotton blend (69% Cotton, 26% Polyester, 3% Viscose, 2% Nylon) and it’s pretty much true to colour (camera found it hard to pic up on the colours soon). I got them in size AU6 and they fit nearly perfectly – they’re looser around my hips and thighs compared to the model, but it’s just due to my body shape. They’re comfy and I love the colour and for less than $10 I can’t complain that much :XD

If you’re looking to update your wardrobe with quick buys I really suggest looking at ASOS! I think one of the hardest things with online shopping is figuring out what size best fits, especially if it’s your first time buying from the store and don’t want to hassle dealing with returns. A nice feature ASOS is that you can “view catwalk” on the page which gives you a look to see how it fits on the model and can maybe help you decide if you want to size up or down.

I’ve been buying from AmiAmi for a bit over a year now so I thought I’ld finally write a proper post regarding my experiences. It’s an online retailer based in Tokyo, Japan which sells hobby and figure merchandise. I like ordering from them as they have discounts on their items and it’s easy to preorder their items – you don’t pay until the item is in stock.

  • 12th April – Preordered Taiko no Tatsujin game and Haikyuu!! Bracelet
  • 7th May – Preordered Free! – Face Tote Bag: Rin and Free! Ouchi de Free Style!
  • 5th August – Received order invoice
  • 11th August – Paid for order
  • 12th AugustReceived shipping notice
  • 29th August – Package arrived

I paid via Paypal and chose unregistered SAL. Usually it only takes 11~14days for me to receive the package, so this time I got a bit worried since it took a few days longer lol. Sometimes it’s worth it to pay extra so you can keep tracking parcels.

Also usually you can’t combine items from preorders which get released in different months but I was able to this time I think because the Haikyuu!! bracelet’s release got delayed by 2 months.

Items

Free! Face tote bag Rin [Free!フェイストートバッグ りん]

  • Price: 2770JPY
  • Dimensions: Approx. 280 x 300 x 10mm (Handle Length: 230mm)
  • Materials: Cotton Jersey Cloth, Polyester Ox

I mainly own tote bags with simple designs and plan colours so thought this would a cute addition to brighten up my wardrobe in Spring or Summer. I wanted to get Rin and Haru but it was sort of expensive to splurge on, so I just got one. Ensky has really cute products it’s hard to resist!

The fabric and construction of the bag feels durable and is comfortable to wear. An interesting thing is that the fabric used for the hair is different from the face, it’s softer to touch.

I thought the back was going to be plain but there’s cute doodles which relates to the series :hearteye2

Inside there’s two pockets to place items you want to access easily. I think you can place a decent amount of items inside the bag, I’ve got an A4 folder, 3DS LL, cosmetic pouch and 2 comic books in the photo (sorry it isn’t clear to see all the items). I usually carry a lot of things when I go out (like an extra jumper since I get cold easily) so I’ll probably use it in warmer weather when I don’t have bulky items to carry around.

Ochatomo Series – Free! Ouchi de Free Style! [ お茶友シリーズ Free! おうちでフリースタイル!]

  • Price: 3,840yen
  • Contains 8 figurines with coasters
  • Figure height: Approx. 45mm tall each

Have you heard of Cup no Fuchiko (Fuchiko on the edge of a cup) before? She’s a popular figurine which you can get from gachapon, in various funny poses which you can place on a cup or various things to brighten up your day. I always thought it was funny but I wasn’t into the character, so when I saw the Free! ones getting released I got really excited. Also the 25% discount AmiAmi had was another incentive to get them.

The paint job and quality seems pretty good, I haven’t seen any patches of no paint or derpy faces. I’ve sometimes found that smaller figurines don’t have constant quality control so it can be a hit or miss buying them. The cup figurines which sit at the edge aren’t as easy as the ones which you can slide onto the edge, so just before they don’t fall into your drink when you position them! They’re perfect edition to add some cuteness to your drink photos puuu

Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikuu Daibouken (太鼓の達人 どんとかつの時空大冒険)

  • Price: 4290 yen
  • Unfortunately they’ve removed the product from the site so I can’t link it.

Besides Animal Crossing, Taiko no Tatsujin is another game series I follow religiously and try to play all versions of. I think so far I’ve played all the DS and PSP versions and tried an arcade version, and now own the two 3DS games they’ve released so far. I’m not too good at playing it – I can only play the easy or normal mode –  but I enjoy playing and listening to their songs and it’s a great game to play with friends or to kill time. My favourite song from the previous game is Growing Up.

The title can be translatedas “Taiko Drum Master: Don and Katsu’s Great Space-time Adventure” in English and is different from the previous game as it has a new rhythm-RPG story mode where you can customize a full party of monster helpers to fight. It also now has streepass so you can check out the profile of other players and has DLC song packs to purchase new songs to your library.

I was really happy to see that there’s a small vocaloid section and the moment I saw Guren no Yumiya (first opening song in Shingeki no Kyojin) listed in the song list, I preordered :shinyred I haven’t had much time to play it yet, but I’ve played a few songs and have enjoyed it so far.

Haikyuu!! – PU Leather Bracelet (Emblem Ver.): Kozume [ハイキュー!! PUレザーブレス(エンブレムVer.) 孤爪]

  • Price: 240 yen
  • Approx. 20 x dia. 75mm

Just something small I ordered with the game since there was nothing else I wanted to order that month, but then the release date got pushed back fuuu I don’t usually order bracelets since I have thin wrists and don’t like wearing accessories too loose but I thought it’ld be nice to order it since I like the character and it was cheap. It’s pretty comfy and not too heavy.
